Hope this is true.....

I know it is true for me... how about you? And those you know? Where does our hope lie? At the foot of the cross... in the hands of our Savior!

What kind of a world....

Have you wondered lately where the world is headed? All you have to do is turn on the news and you will be bombarded with tales of death and destruction... and obvious evidence that the US is now, and has been, headed in a direction that is not in line with the will of God.

Recently Mickey has been reading in Proverbs, and he shared this verse with me last week. I must say, this verse has haunted me of late. And with the upcoming election, it keeps popping up in my mind...

20 Wisdom calls aloud in the street,
she raises her voice in the public squares;

21 at the head of the noisy streets [a] she cries out,
in the gateways of the city she makes her speech:

22 "How long will you simple ones [b] love your simple ways?
How long will mockers delight in mockery
and fools hate knowledge?

23 If you had responded to my rebuke,
I would have poured out my heart to you
and made my thoughts known to you.

24 But since you rejected me when I called
and no one gave heed when I stretched out my hand,

25 since you ignored all my advice
and would not accept my rebuke,

26 I in turn will laugh at your disaster;
I will mock when calamity overtakes you-

27 when calamity overtakes you like a storm,
when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind,
when distress and trouble overwhelm you.

28 "Then they will call to me but I will not answer;
they will look for me but will not find me.

29 Since they hated knowledge
and did not choose to fear the LORD,

30 since they would not accept my advice
and spurned my rebuke,

31 they will eat the fruit of their ways
and be filled with the fruit of their schemes.

32 For the waywardness of the simple will kill them,
and the complacency of fools will destroy them;

33 but whoever listens to me will live in safety
and be at ease, without fear of harm."

Okay, heavy I know... but wow!!! There will be many churches all over the US fasting and praying over the weekend for the upcoming elections and no matter your plans, I hope that you will take the time to ask God to protect our country, and that above all else, that His will be done.

Something for all you Dads and Dads to Be

Job Update... and an award!!!

Okay... first things first... Job Update... The job isn't what I was led to believe in the interview... which is a sad thing. Yes... I did feel that this was where God had led me... but I am not so sure that it was for the JOB so much as it has been for a young lady who works there... another story for another time.

Back to the job.... we had been led to believe that the job would entail gathering information and placing it with the applications... well... it is that... and so much more. More than I had bargained for. It turns out that you are, in fact, a case worker of sorts. You have to learn the regs for Food Stamps, TANF and all 28 forms of Medicaid! As I have progressed through the training this week, I have found myself coming to the realization that this just isn't really the job for me. And on top of it all... if you know me at all... you know that I HATE interstate driving... which I have to do twice a day in the job. So... tomorrow will be my last day... and I will continue my search for the right job. And the young girl I mentioned earlier... I think that she'll be just fine now.

And... on to the award....

My best buddy Rebecca received this award from one of her blogger buddies and bestowed it upon me. How cool is that! So here goes! I am to name 6 things that make me happy and then pass it on to three people....

1. Sitting on the couch with Mickey after all the kids have gone to bed just talking!

2. Having all our kids and grandkids together at one time. I love it!!!

3. Being with friends.... their laughter makes me happy!

4. The smell of ANYTHING sweet baking - pumpkin bread, pies, cookies, cakes... YUM!

5. Teaching kids... gotta love their questions and I love to watch them do crafts!

6. KNITTING... I love to watch how the patterns and colors come together!!!

So... there you have it... and I'm calling out Rachel, who has been honing some crafting skills..... and how about Carly who is such a musical person... now that is definitely "kreative"! And last, but not least Christy who just might amaze you all with some "flag tossing skills" if you give her a chance!!!! Have a great time with this... it makes you just feel all fuzzy when you write about the stuff that makes you happy!!!!!

Costume Crazy!

We are having a "Fall Harvest Party" on October 31st... something that we have never held before, and we have told our guests to feel free to "dress up" if they want (nothing scary! Cute only please!)

Our oldest daughter has gone a little costume crazy... she decided that our granddaughter should be a fairy, and off she went in search of just the right materials. What she came up with was this "cutie tutie"....

How adorable is this? (And isn't my granddaughter just as cute as a button!!!) Well... Chandra posted this to her message board and there were people who were interested in purchasing them for their daughters. How cool is that? She has already sold two, and is hoping to take more orders. In the course of all of this, she has came up with the following name.....

Cute, huh? Now I have to tell you... this sort of thing runs in our family... it began with my grandfather - Pap Cullison as he was known to us. He would come up with an idea, and then run with it... he raised ponies and held pony rides at local carnivals - where he also set up a portable skating rink (complete with tent!). He once set up a "picture booth" at a local carnival - he stood out side telling people about the process and then my dad and my uncle took the pictures and developed them, so that people could come back and get their pictures later (sound familiar?). He "sold" that idea for $500! In later years he ran a dog kennel, raise birds of all sorts and sold them, and had milk goats selling their milk in the community. He always seemed to have something on the back burner.

My father has been a "jack of all trades" and I have held numerous jobs as well. I once baked pies for a restaurant, making 8 to 12 pies weekly. I started making corn husk dolls and ended up selling them in shops in Corydon. I have sold floral designs and wreaths, and I still make wedding arrangements periodically. I can crochet, and have sold some of that in the past, and I am currently on a "knitting binge"... crafting and selling just runs in the blood.

I'm happy to see that this "enterprising spirit" lives on in another generation... now... if I see her in the market to buy milk goats, I might have to step in... but in the meantime... if you need a tutu for a little princess (or yourself!), send her an email! She'll be happy to hear from you!

This and that....

Don't you just love good news? I do... it is always sheer joy to share in great news that is brought to you with a smile! You know who you are... and thanks for including me in your excitement!!! LOVE YOU!!!

And to my blogging friends... just because I've taken a job doesn't mean that I'll stop blogging!! Are you kidding me??? Whether anyone ever reads it is beside the point... I LOVE TO WRITE!!! So as long as I have this avenue available to me, I'll continue to use it. Words... they are just so much fun!!!

A thought or two on Satan and his incessant attacks.... while he can be persistent (just ask my friend Rebecca !) I fully believe that he is no match for my Savior!!!! My poor friend has been attacked in a most unusual way, but I believe it to be an attack just the same. I have never met anyone with more dental issues at one time, and while this might seem a simple thing to overcome, it can be daunting... and terribly frustrating! Satan is thrilled to take a time such as this and use it to bring you down.... but Jesus has other plans... plans to prosper you and give you peace... so rest easy my friend... God is SO in control, even if life feels out of control at the moment!!!!

GRANDBABIES.... aren't they the MOST amazing little people in the world? I got to spend the day with two of mine... Emma and Levi. We had a great day, and they are growing so quickly. I often wonder why we couldn't have just had grand kids first???? Impossible, I know... but if you've got them... I know you'll understand!!!!

And a final thought for the evening.... the Presidential election... I don't know who you are voting for... but I would ask that you keep this election in your prayers, and that God would place in office the person of HIS choice!!!! Can I get an AMEN?????

Something worth watching.....

It has happened....

.... I GOT A JOB! WHOOOP WHOOOOP!!!

I had placed my resume on line at indianacareerconnect.com and I had filled out tons of applications... an nothing!

Then the other day a lady from an employment agency that places employees for the Family and Social Services office in Indiana called. She had pulled my resume off line and wanted me to come for an interview... or so I thought. When I showed up today, it was an orientation!!! After the first 15 minutes she told us that if we weren't interested in the job, we were free to leave. I decided that as I had been praying for God to give me the job of his choice, and I hadn't applied... nor did I know that I could walk away with the job today, this was something that he must be handing to me. So... I took the job! I begin on October 20th, and I'll be working in Jeffersonville. The money is good, and I am so excited!

What is the most exciting is the fact that this will allow us to help Carly go to college! I am thrilled about that! So... as always... GOD IS SO GOOD!!!!!

Misson Accomplished!!!!

Yesterday's Stephanie's Hope Scholarship Fund event was a success!! A HUGE success I think!!!! We were able to raise $1,190.00 that will help us to enable other's to go on mission trips! I personally think that this is amazing!!! And I hear that there will be more money on the way so we will be over $1,200.00!!!!

There are just so many people I want to thank: Darryl and Denise Manias and ALL their boys, Adam, Evan and Nate! Rebecca and Ricky Vincent, Hank and Marie Henize, Christy Smallwood, Bill Peake, Jr., Steve and Vicki Meredith, Stephanie Walker, Steph's children Ryan and Amber (as well as some awesome grandkids who helped out!!!) and last (but by no means least!) Mickey. All of these folks cooked, served, set-up and cleaned up just because they are so passionate about missions. Job well done!!!!!!

Also, thanks to Carly for taking care of Michael while we got things up and running....

And to Barry and the GCC Praise band... AWESOME ENTERTAINMENT!!!!!!

For all of those who attended... I know that this was a day of mixed feelings... and I am thankful that you chose to spend the afternoon attending an event which will have the potential to change the life of someone in another country. Your dedication to the mission ministry of GCC was so very appreciated! Be on the lookout for information on our spring event after the first of the year... and get your walking shoes ready... we hope to plan a Walk-A-Thon!!!!!

Major weekend approaching!

Tomorrow is Friday... and with Friday comes a host of opportunities to stay busy!!!!

On Friday I will go to Curves and take some bread that I will bake tonight for the Relay for Life team bake sale. And... I'll get in 30 minutes of exercise! Then I'll come home and bake four Bundt cakes for the Stephanie's Hope Scholarship Fund dinner Sunday. Don't worry... I'll make sure they are completely cooled and NOT iced before I wrap them tightly! I'll add the finishing touches on Saturday evening!

Saturday will find us busy again... Carly will have her District Competition in Southport. Their band plays at 11:52. We are still debating as to whether or not we are going to make the drive up. We hate to miss out on the big moments!!!! Either way, Saturday evening will find me baking pies for the fundraiser. Pumpkin for my buddy, Steve Meredith, who has been putting in extra time with the fundraiser. Talk about a busy man!!!! I appreciate him so much!

Sunday we will go and teach our class in the morning and then make our way over to The Ranch for the dinner. Pulled Pork BBQ, Baked Beans, Slaw or Potato Salad and a dessert!!! Sounds tempting, doesn't it? Not sure how much time I'll have to eat! Serving will begin at noon, and at 2:00 PM the church band, along with Smith and Company, will entertain our guests.

My prayer is that we will raise some money for this fund. I hope that this is a tremendous start to something that has the potential to bless people for years to come. I think that this is such a fitting way to pay honor to a friend who loved God so much and wanted nothing more than to serve Him.

So... if you have a little time on Sunday, and you are in the Greenville/Palmyra area, please come and join us for some great food... great music... and tons of fellowship! If you need directions... send me a comment... I'll be happy to fit an answer in to my busy schedule!!!!
