The Nudge

Have you ever had one of those days... weeks.... months!!!... where you just didn't feel like doing what you always do? That has been this month for me. I am supposed to be doing the paper... and I have sort of... but I have felt very indifferent about it this month. Partly, I am sure, due to the monetary aspects of the paper (or the lack of money????) I keep wondering how the paper can continue if we don't get the sales we need... if we continue to have aged receivables, etc, etc, etc... and the worry soon overcomes the joy of doing the work... That is where I have found myself recently, and it is a place that I hate to be.

Well, the paper was due to go to the printer Monday... it ended up going Tuesday. (Another delay brought on by ME!) So when I sat down at the computer yesterday morning to finish putting the paper together I found that my satellite was down due to the weather. It didn't come up until 12:30, and there were articles that I needed floating around out in the ozone... so I just continued to plug away with the things that I had, praying that the problem with the Internet would quickly resolve. It was during this time that I was sitting her wondering if the paper was still where God wanted me to be...and the phone rang....

"Hi, my name is Catherine, and I volunteer at Choices for Women in New Albany. I just wanted you to know that I am sitting here reading The Good News Monthly, and I am just so thankful for your ministry. This paper is really nice, and it brings such joy to those that read it. I just felt compelled to let you know that today."

Okay... now I am picking my jaw up off the desk... thanking her for letting me know that... and telling her that she has no idea how badly I needed to hear that on that day at that time. That God... he always knows how to get his message across to us doesn't he? He knew what I needed to hear, just when I needed to hear it. And the paper... well... it made it to the printer and I have to say, I was more eager to finish it.

Does that mean that I'm not going to worry about the monetary aspects... nope... I have to be concerned about them...it is all part of running a ministry/business. But I know that God is still in control, and that makes the load a lot easier to carry!

Oh Yes... an update on the New Project - check out these cuties in their new socks!

The Countdown

UPDATE*****UPDATE*****UPDATE*****UPDATE*****UPDATE

The wait was finally over yesterday! Carly, Rebecca, Lindsay and I headed to see Phantom, and we had a wonderful evening!

Our first stop was a yarn shop...yes...even an outing to see The Phantom of the Opera included a trip to buy yarn!! Rebecca took me to a nice little shop in Jeffersonville, Grinny Possum, and Carly picked out the yarn for her first pair of knitted socks. From there we headed to Rocky's for an early dinner, and then off to the Kentucky Center for Phantom.

The show was awesome, and I won't spoil it for anyone is still going, but I was near tears a couple of times, it was just so cool to get to see this. And it was especially cool that Carly and I got to see it together. (Thanks Mickey for such awesome birthday gifts!!!) And the fellowship with Rebecca and Lindsay was great as well...it was just a beautiful "girls night out".

The new question is, "What comes out next year at this time?" We are all anxious to do this again!

Carly and I received some pretty awesome gifts for our birthdays ... tickets to see Phantom of the Opera in Louisville. We managed to get tickets for the 20th, and we are so excited. Not only are we going but Rebecca and her daughter Lindsey are going as well. We plan to ride with them, making a complete evening of it... going out to eat and then going to the show.

I have heard from many at church that they are going as well, and everyone seems to be sitting on pins and needles awaiting their turn.

Now, I gotta tell you, I have been listening to Chad's sermon from last Sunday, and I wonder... do we have the same excitement about coming to church on Sunday that we feel when we know that we are going to see a great show? Unfortunately, probably not... but I think that is something that we all need to work on changing.

Going to church and learning about God, His Son, and their plan for our salvation, should be something that lights us up...that sets us on fire. And when we leave the building, we should be not only eager to spread the word about all that we have learned, but we should be counting down the days until we get to go back for more.

So, as of today Carly and I only have 9 more days until Phantom...but hey...we only have two more until we are once again seated at GCC hearing what God has laid on Chad's heart. I know that the thrill of watching Phantom will stay with me for awhile, but what Chad has to share... it will stay with me for eternity!

A New Year... A New Project

Well, it has finally happened... Rebecca has got me hooked on knitting socks!!! I took part of my Christmas money (thanks Mom and Dad!) and bought some yarn and needles, and last night I began my first sock! Right now I am on the easy part...that will change soon and I am sure that I will be calling Rebecca for some much needed help. But I gotta tell you... watching this yarn begin to make it's pattern is really amazing. In the skein it looks like a bunch of colors just randomly spaced, but when it begins to be used, the pattern starts to appear, and it is just awesome to watch.

So that got me to thinking.... knitting is kind of like your life once you accept Christ as your Savior. What was once just a jumble begins to take shape under the hands of the Master, and a pattern begins to appear. The longer the Master has to work on your life, the more complete the project. Wow... knitting and Christ... who would have thought???!!!! Oh yeah.... "I knit you together in the womb"... hm.... see... even Christ knits!

So thanks Rebecca for helping me to get started, and you know... this could be the new weight loss program I am looking for... I can't seem to put it down!!!!!
