Michael the Baker

Michael and I spent some of our school time yesterday baking some banana bread. He was so excited about it... first he got to mash the bananas....

.... then stir in the milk, eggs and vanilla....

... next came the dry ingredients...

... and finally we placed it in the pan for baking!

Michael checked on his creation numerous times during the hour it took to bake... but frinally....

... it emerged from the oven nice and golden!!! And I must say, it made the house smell wonderful and it was very yummy!

What might this have to do with homeschool??? Well, Michael often struggles with taking directions... so I am going to try working on that with something that he enjoys..... there are a lot of directions to follow as you prepare something to bake! Not that he can measure... yet!.... but he can pour, he can stir, he can scrape down the sides of a bowl, he can mash... yes, this will definitely help with directions.
This weekend we are headed to an orchard, as we have been studying about fall, harvest time, and picking apples. Monday, we will bake and apple pie!!! We will also pick up a pie pumpkin because this week, we are talking about pumpkins all week, and at the end of the week we will prepare a REAL pumpkin for pumpkin pies! Gotta say... we are LOVING homeschool!!!! But it just might be REALLY bad for ones diet!
Be Blessed...Lynn

If he picks up your skills in baking he could really make a career out of it!!
